My Table

I wanted to design a table that was not like an average table. The definition of a table is: "a piece of furniture with a flat top and one or more legs, providing a level surface on which objects may be placed, and that can be used for such purposes as eating, writing, working, or playing games." i wanted to challenge the idea of the table having a flat top where items can be placed. I came up with my first concept through the idea of placing items inside the table and not on the top. I developed this idea into the table being more then a table but also having a chair and a cup holder Incorporated. My table would most likely been seen in a lounge or a sitting room. The table would be a place for someone to relax and read a book. The draws around the table would be big enough to hold magazines, news papers and thin books.

The Design..

The object that I was assigned was a table. I had the idea of creating a table that would be seen in a modern house or office space. Tables are used mainly for things like eating, writing and working. I started out with the idea of not being able to place things on the table but instead inside the table. So my redesigned table is not one that you necessarily place things on but this has draws around it in which magazines and newspapers are kept. It also has a pull out chair and a cup holder. So it is easy to sit down, have a drink and do a bit of reading.
